CLOS DE LOS SIETE
A group of 7 French partners headed by international wine consultant, Michel Rolland, bought a 850ha site in the foothills of the Andes at Canton de Tunuyàn. At 1100m above sea level, this high altitude vineyard produce Merlot, Malbec, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon from 450ha which goes into a premium wine called Clos de los Siete. The Merlot offers intense fruit flavours; the Malbec impressive aromatic quality with dense, smooth tannins; whilst the Syrah provides a perfumed character and the Cabernet Sauvignon nobility and structure.
THE FLADGATE PARTNERSHIP
The Fladgate Partnership is a family owned company with over 300 years dedicated to the production of premium Port. It is the owner of the highly respected Port houses Taylor’s. Fonseca and Croft and lists some of the most prestigious vineyards in the Port heartland of the Douro Valley in its portfolio. The company also runs a restaurant and visitor centre at Taylor’s and Croft in Vila Nova de Gaia and a tasting room and vineyard tours at Quinta do Panascal just outside Pinhao. In 2010, it opens a 5* luxury wine spa hotel called The Yeatman in Vila Nova de Gaia.
UNION DES GRANDS CRUS DE BORDEAUX
The Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux is a famous group of leading Bordeaux châteaux. The best names of the Médoc, Graves, Pessac-Léognan, Saint-Emilion, Pomerol, Sauternes and Barsac come to London each autumn to present an exceptional tasting of the current vintage in bottle to the press and trade.
VINS ET VIGNOBLES DOURTHE (CVBG)
CVBG is considered one of the top negociants in Bordeaux and the number one exporter of Bordeaux Grands Crus. CVBG is also a highly respected wine producer. It owns and manages a portfolio of highly successful properties including Châteaux Belgrave, Le Boscq and Reysson in the Médoc, La Garde in the Graves, Grand Barrail Lamarzelle Figeac in Saint Emilion and Pey La Tour in the 1er Cotes de Bordeaux. Its southern venture Château de Sérame is located in the Languedoc. Dourthe is also behind the successful Bordeaux brand, Dourthe No 1, which remains a reference for modern white, rose and red Bordeaux.
WINES FROM SPAIN
Wines from Spain is the UK arm of ICEX which forms part of the Spanish Embassy. It is committed to promoting and marketing the wines from Spain from 67 DOs. Each year, Wines from Spain stages a wine exhibition for the press and trade featuring a diverse selection of wines from large brands to small boutique wineries. It is also the home of fortified and sparkling wines as well as reds, roses and whites. The Annual Wines from Spain Fair takes place each spring showcasing the best of Spain including latest releases from leading Spanish Importers and Exporters seeking UK distribution. Over 1500 wines from across Spain are showcased at this unmissable trade event which is now in its 25th year.
