23rd Annual Wines from Spain Trade Fair
Le Cinq is a small group of highly distinguished Bordeaux Grands Crus châteaux who have joined forces to promote their wines worldwide. The group includes the wines of Angélus, Branaire-Ducru, Canon La Gaffelière, Gazin, and Smith Haut-Lafitte. They are joined by five equally prestigious châteaux at their London tasting which includes Canon, Guiraud, Léoville Poyferré, Pontet-Canet and Rauzan-Ségla.
Established by Michel Rolland and 6 Bordeaux partners, Clos de los Siete is a high altitude vineyard located at Vista Flores some 100 km south of Mendoza. It is currently planted with 430 hectares of vines. Each partner contributes grapes to the premium red wine Clos de los Siete which is sold worldwide through the Bordeaux negociant company CVBG Dourthe Kressmann. Produced from a blend of Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot, Clos de los Siete retails in the UK for around £12.99.
Dourthe is a highly respected Bordeaux producer which owns and manages a portfolio of successful properties including Châteaux Belgrave, Le Boscq and Reysson in the Médoc, La Garde in the Graves, Grand Barrail Lamarzelle Figeac in Saint Emilion and Pey La Tour in the Cotes. Its southern venture Château de Sérame is located in the Languedoc. It also holds the worldwide distribution rites for Clos de los Siete in Argentina.
The Fladgate Partnership is a family owned company established over 300 years producing premium Port. It is the owner of the highly respected Port houses Taylor’s. Fonseca and Croft and lists some of the most prestigious vineyards in the Port heartland of the Douro Valley in its portfolio. The company also runs a restaurant and visitor centre at Taylor’s and Croft in Vila Nova de Gaia and a tasting room with vineyard tours at Quinta do Panascal just outside Pinhao. In 2010, it opened The Yeatman hotel, a 5 star luxury wine spa hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia.
The Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux (UGC) represents the most prestigious names in Margaux, St Julien, Pauillac, St Estèphe, Listrac, Moulis, the Médoc, Haut- Médoc, Graves, Pessac-Léognan, Saint-Emilion, Pomerol, Sauternes and Barsac. Their annual tasting at the Royal Opera House in October is one of the most sought after events in the UK wine trade diary.
Wines from Spain is the UK arm of ICEX which forms part of the Spanish Embassy. It is committed to promoting and marketing the wines from across Spain. Each year, Wines from Spain stages a wine exhibition for the press and trade featuring a diverse selection of wines from large brands to small boutique wineries. It is also the home of fortified and sparkling wines as well as reds, roses and whites. The Annual Wines from Spain Fair takes place each spring showcasing the best of Spain including latest releases from leading Spanish Importers and Exporters seeking UK distribution.
